Laser Kidney Stone Surgery
Advanced RIRS, URS & Tubeless PCNL
The New Standard in Stone Care
Laser Kidney Stone Surgery
Gone are the days of open surgery and large scars. Under the expertise of Dr. Sunil Palve (M.Ch Urology), we treat kidney stones using advanced Endourology – techniques that enter the body through natural passages or tiny pinholes.
Our Core Philosophy: We don’t just “remove” the stone; we choose the specific method (RIRS or PCNL) that clears it 100% in a single session, ensuring you are back to normal life within 24 hours.
The Technology: Laser Dusting
We don’t just break the stone. We vaporize it.
In traditional stone surgeries, doctors use low-frequency energy to break the stone into smaller chunks (fragments). These chunks then have to be pulled out one by one using a wire basket, which can scrape the ureter and cause bleeding.
Dr. Sunil Palve uses a different approach: “Dusting.”
Using the advanced Holmium Laser at a high-frequency setting, we deliver rapid, low-energy pulses to the stone.
The Physics: This creates a “chipping” effect that peels away the stone layer by layer, similar to sanding down a piece of wood.
The Result: The stone is not broken into sharp chunks; it is turned into fine powder (dust).
The Benefit: Since it is just dust, we don’t need to pull it out. It simply flushes out with your urine flow, naturally and painlessly.
Precision Laser Dusting
Which Procedure do you need?
Dr. Sunil Palve selects the technique based strictly on the size and hardness of your stone.
| Feature | RIRS (Laser Dusting) | Tubeless PCNL (Advanced) |
| Best For | Stones < 15mm (Kidney/Ureter) | Stones > 20mm (Large/Hard) |
| Incision | Zero (Natural Passage) | Tiny Pinhole (< 1cm) |
| The Tool | Flexible Scope + Holmium Laser | Mini-Nephroscope + Suction |
| Dr. Palve’s Edge | Dusts stone to fine powder | No drainage tube needed |
| Recovery | Home in 24 Hours | Home in 48 Hours |
Why Choose us ?
We use precision Laser Dusting to ensure you are 100% stone-free and home in 24 hours – without a single cut.
Tubeless PCNL Expert
While standard PCNL surgeries leave a painful drainage tube hanging from the back, Dr. Palve specializes in the "Tubeless" technique. He seals the internal puncture securely, meaning no external tubes and significantly less post-op pain.
Supine PCNL
Most surgeons flip you onto your stomach for surgery (Prone). Dr. Palve performs "Supine" PCNL, allowing you to lie naturally on your back. This is safer for anesthesia and allows for faster surgery.
500+ Successful Cases
He doesn't just treat stones; he specializes in them. From simple ureteric stones to complex staghorn calculi, his clearance rate is among the highest in Wakad.

Precision Map
Dr. Palve uses a low-dose CT Scan to locate the stone's exact position and measure its hardness before we start.
Natural Entry
For RIRS, we enter through the natural urinary passage. No cuts on your skin, meaning no scars to heal later.
Scope Targeting
A flexible "Cobra" scope is guided up to the kidney. It bends and rotates to find stones hidden in deep corners.
Laser Dusting
The Holmium Laser is fired. It doesn't just break the stone; it vaporizes it into fine dust that flushes out easily.
Safety Stent
A temporary internal stent is placed to keep the passage open. It is invisible from the outside and ensures painless healing.
Home Next Day
Because there are no cuts, you are discharged within 24 hours. Most patients return to desk jobs in just 2 days.
Frequently Asked Questions
Kidney Stone Surgery
Is laser kidney stone surgery painful?
No, the procedure itself is performed under anesthesia, so you will feel no pain during the surgery. Since there are no external cuts or incisions (the laser enters through the natural urinary passage), post-operative pain is minimal compared to open surgery. Most patients experience only mild discomfort that is easily managed with medication.
How long will I need to stay in the hospital?
Laser stone surgery (RIRS/URS) is typically a day-care or 24-hour procedure. You can usually go home the same day or the next morning. Recovery is quick, and most patients resume their office work or daily routine within 2 to 3 days.
Will there be any cuts or scars on my body?
No. This is a completely non-invasive procedure. The urologist inserts a thin instrument (ureteroscope) through the urethra to reach the stone. A high-powered laser fiber is then used to break the stone into dust, which passes out naturally in urine. There are no stitches or scars.
What is a DJ Stent, and is it always necessary?
A DJ Stent is a thin, soft tube temporarily placed in the ureter to ensure urine flows freely while the kidney heals and stone dust passes out. It is commonly used after laser surgery but is not always mandatory; your doctor will decide based on the stone size and swelling. If placed, it is typically removed after 1-2 weeks in a simple 5-minute procedure.
Can laser surgery treat large or multiple stones?
Yes. Advanced laser technology (like Holmium Laser) is powerful enough to powder even hard or large stones. For very large kidney stones (over 2cm), we may combine laser treatment with Mini-PCNL (a keyhole procedure) to ensure complete clearance in a single session.
